MAGICAL MIDWINTER PACKAGES
’Twas weeks before Christmas, and upon the hall table
Sat The Vermont Country Store catalogue fresh from the mail.
Paging through it, said she, “I wonder, what if…
I make Christmas cookies and give them as gifts?”
From ballet, to jewels, to snow-covered trees,
Inspiration came even from Tiffany’s!
Menus were designed and copy was written,
Gift tags were made (and test cookies were bitten!).
Next, chocolate and peppermint and flour were bought,
And not one, but five, different cookies were wrought.
Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies were packed full of sweet berries,
While Peppermint Chocolate Cookies got mints red as cherries.
There were Monster Cookies chock-full of M&Ms galore,
And Big Soft Ginger Cookies filled with spices and more.
Last were Chocolate Truffle Cookies, all sweetness and light,
Then it was time to wrap presents up tight.
The tins could be filled and tied off with a bow,
And gifted to neighbors who’d dug through the snow.
So with a warm cup of tea on a cold winter’s night,
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
